This month, we're thrilled to shine the spotlight on one of our invaluable team members, Chris Keep!
Chris is our a Senior Manager - Supply Chain Risk Lead. His role involves assisting organisations of all sizes to perform appropriate assurance over their supply chain, while ensuring business objectives are being supported and met.
What is your role at DCR?
“I’m a Senior Manager within DCR, leading the Supply Chain Risk area. This involves supporting our clients through all stages of the supplier lifecycle, whether that be how to best support business goals through procuring new suppliers, or how to proactively and securely off-board suppliers no longer required in a controlled but proportionate manner. Too often people see traditional risk topics as only the focus of suppliers, but their performance and value is just as important.”
What is your favourite part of working at DCR?
“We have a fantastic working culture at DCR which allows for both personal and professional growth and achievement. We’re a growing business where responsibility is actively put in the employees’ hands to shape the company. I’m very fortunate to work with some fantastic clients on real issues and get to be involved in the wider industry to work out what is coming next.”
What are you most proud of in your career?
“Hard to pick! I think my biggest success has been in my approach to demystifying and removing jargon language from technical conversations. I’ve had a lot of success conducting supplier assessments with this approach, uncovering more risks due to understanding the business requirement behind the service, not just the technical setup.”
What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?
“I am big into the outdoors and enjoy trying new things. Mostly all manners of cycling, including international tours armed with a tent or more casual days out around the local area with friends or family. I usually set myself a challenge to give an end goal, and in recent years these have been RideLondon 100 and the London Marathon.”
What's one thing on your bucket list?
“As mentioned, I love outdoor activities and one day would love to do more thrill-seeking things like a skydive or bungee jump. I para-glided last year which gave me a taste and I’m not sure whether it has made me more confident or scared at the ideas.”
What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
“Perhaps a bit cliché but I would say take risks and try new things, especially when it comes to job roles or projects you’re uncertain about. Very rarely has taking a chance on working something new not taught me something valuable or enabled me to meet new and interesting people.”
