Independent Board Advisory
What is Independent Board Advisory?
We define change as an intention to move to an improved future state, often involving people, process, technology and organisational structure.
Stakeholders (including investors and regulators) expect that the board should provide oversight of all significant (sometimes known as ‘material’) change initiatives. For example, those changes that have a high operational, regulatory and/or customer impact should they fail.
The challenges
Having board members with experience in digital, data and business change can be a competitive differentiator. As a board member, how confident are you that your change initiatives are identified, prioritised, and managed so that the organisation will deliver the outcomes needed?
Boards have a responsibility for ensuring appropriate risk management focus, resourcing and capability is in place to achieve the business strategy.
Boards often have a deep, valuable and diverse range of change experience gained from working across geographies and industry sectors. There is sometimes significant reliance placed on those individual board members - a senior independent advisor who can strengthen and constructively support the decision-making process is valuable.
The portfolio of change initiatives is increasing and their inter-dependencies are becoming much more complex to manage. Reporting that is provided to the board and governance groups continues to evolve, however in our experience does not consistently provide an accurate risk assessment and the insight needed by decision makers.
For those organisations that can successfully deliver the change and transformation, the opportunity to reduce cost to serve, differentiate the customer proposition and gain new market share awaits.
How to solve it
We act as an experienced independent advisor to the board, autonomously reviewing portfolio reporting and attending meetings to advise on potential risks, hidden opportunities to accelerate value, change implications, while also providing guidance and direction.
We often support this with ongoing coaching for board members to improve their ability to ask the right questions of management, focusing on developing a baseline understanding for all board members.
The benefits of our services
We have done this before and you are in safe hands. We reduce risk, improve change confidence and enable success.

Robust independent advice and assurance doesn’t happen by accident – we bring a senior led approach and deep subject matter expertise in key areas of risk that you’ll face during the change such as strategy and operating model, design and architecture, testing, business change, operational resilience and transitioning safely to the new ways of working.
Change is inevitable and we therefore focus on building your own internal capability, ensuring knowledge and skills transfer with your own team.
